Dawn Wright
The entire pregnancy yoga teacher training course is led by Dawn Wright who is one of our principle teachers for the Advanced Yoga & Teacher Training Programme. Her approach is nurturing and supportive, giving students the space to explore their own yoga practice and to safely, informatively and creatively expand their teaching. Dawn is a mother of 3 children and found yoga to be a powerful tool to her physical and mental well-being both pre and post-natally. She is passionate about sharing practices which support women during this special time, teaches weekly pre-natal classes and runs Birthing Preperation workshops. She has been teaching pregnancy yoga for many years and trained with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli.

About Teaching Pregnancy Yoga
You don’t need to have had experience of Pregnancy Yoga, but you will need to have a strong motivation to want to learn to teach Pregnancy Yoga and have read the pre-course reading prior to taking the course.
If you are a health care professional or therapist who works with pregnant women you are able to attend to deepen your knowledge and experience, please contact the studio to discuss your suitability to attend the course before booking. However you will not be qualified to teach Pregnancy Yoga as a Yoga Teacher unless you have completed the minimum 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training programme. In this instance you will still receive your Certificate of Attendance or Certificate of Completion upon receipt of your assignment.
Purchase and familiarise yourself with Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, ISBN-10: 1444100971, ISBN-13: 978-1444100976.
Observe or attend 2 pregnancy yoga classes, with a minimum duration of 60 minutes each. Ideally, one should be in person, while the other may be online or via DVD observation. You will need to make notes on the practices, modifications and sequences and bring these to the training, as they will form part of the training content.
We will look at the journey of pregnancy from both a physical and emotional perspective. The course explores safety and practical considerations for teaching asana, meditation and pranayama for pregnant students, as well as how to sequence lessons in a pregnancy setting.
This includes partner work, group teaching practices, integrating the needs of a pregnant student into a regular class, active birthing techniques and teaching considerations for the postnatal student.
Due to the timings of this 4-day intensive, there is not the opportunity for personal mentoring during the course itself. Post-course, there may be the option to arrange a personal mentoring session with Dawn through Skype or FaceTime at an additional cost.
